(W6) ICT for Maths

Thursday 3rd June 2010 : 9:00-12:15
TECHNOLOGY supporting MATHEMATICS Teaching and Learning

This workshop is specifically designed for Mathematics teachers of students age 8 to 19.
We will cover several generic web 2.0 applications that are designed to help you find Maths resources and share those resources with other Maths teachers and your students.
We will look at some Maths specific websites and applications with time being allocated for you to try some of these 'hands-on'.
We will be joined online by a USA Maths educator who has a specific expertese in "MathsCasting" with students ... and he will explain and demonstrate how this is done.
With this subject-specific workshop it is also hoped that participants will share their own experiences of using technology to support the teaching of Mathematics.
If you have time before the workshop then have a browse around
www.shambles.net/mathematics

Note (if you plan to attend both the Maths and Science sessions) that there will be some overlap with the generic web 2.0 applications shown between the Maths and Science workshops.
