(W3) Blogs and Blogging

(W2) Making use of Blogs for teaching and learning
Tuesday 17th March 09 ... 9:00 to 12:00
What is a Blog (Weblog), how do you make one and what can they be used for? ... we will answer all of these and you will create one in real time.
If you have time before the workshop then have a browse around http://www.shambles.net/web2#blog and http://bloggingvideos.blogspot.com

Your Homework ... one job before you arrive .... introduce yourself (e.g. name, where you are working now, what age students do you work with, do you already use the internet, any technology/computer experiences)
and also say what you hope to achieve at the workshop.
If you already have your own Blog then it would be BRILLIANT if you can put the address (url) in your comment.
Just click on the word "Comments" below
and fill in the form that should come up.
You can post anonymously although it would be nice to know who you are.

Hello. I am Mark Clement. I teach History and Theory of Knolwedge to high school students at the International School Ho Chi Minh City. This year the school supplied all students in Grades 9-11 and their teachers with tablets. I use the internet a lot for resources. We also use programs such as OneNote, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. I am looking forward to learning more advanced applications.

Hello there. I'm Rob Starmer. I'm also making my way over from HCMC in Vietnam. I'm teaching Grade 9-12 Biology in the MYP and DP programs. I am at the same school as Mark in the above post. I'm hoping that I can develop a few more interesting ways for my students to make use of the tablet computers they have been given.

Hi there! I'm Shawna. I teach Economics to 17-18yr olds in Singapore. I have tried getting students to upload articles and learning points on blogs before but they have not been sustainable. Would like to learn other ways that blogs can be used for teaching and learning and also how to sustain interest in blogs.

Hi. I am an Economics Teacher. Not that savvy with IT but know enough for work and networking with friends. Want to learn how to set up a blog and use its functions, eg for learning and teaching effectively.

Hi, I'm Thuy Do, also from ISHCMC like Mark. I am teaching Vietnamese Literature and my students and I recently have increased our use of PowerPoint, Inspiration 8 and OneNote. Although I am not a confident IT user, especially when many of my students are experts in this field, I myself found that the use of IT has made our subject much more interesting. thus, I wish I could study IT further so that I can become a more competent IT user.
